Why is it so difficult to do what the above verse commands? We all know people who are struggling; it may even be you. Life has become increasingly challenging as societal values decline, and the effects are evident in our lives. As Christians, we are called to listen and pray for the hurting and bring God’s Word into their situation. Furthermore, we are to admonish, encourage, and do our best to convince our friends and family members to trust and obey the Word of God. But often, despite our efforts, they come back the next week with the same struggles. Why? Lord of ALL When we make Jesus our Lord (and not just our Saviour) – Lord of all and everything in our lives – it becomes much easier to…

A letter to all readers The world is really in a mess, and it seems to get worse every day. The 21 st century has to go down as the most humanistic, self-serving, anti-Christ era in history. Email your questions to: info@joymag.co.za Are Passover and Easter the same? Passover celebrates the deliverance from Egypt when blood was smeared on the doorposts of homes. “Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt” (Exo 12:13). It was symbolic of the Messiah who would shed His blood for our deliverance. The Christian celebration commemorates a series of events surrounding the death and resurrection of Christ, which originally took place during the Passover. The “last supper” is believed to have been the seder dinner from the first night of Passover. John the Baptist referred to…
Short testimony In the days post Covid, my life stood still. A job that once seemed promising had turned into mere routine, failing to fill the void within me. I sought purpose in my life. It was then I pleaded with the Lord to make a way for me. I would surrender all and follow Him. The wisdom of Proverbs 3:5 echoed in my heart, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.” I then dreamt one night and God responded in vivid images and words. I heard God’s voice, “Quit your job and assist Tannie Magda who selflessly runs a feeding scheme.” My mind was filled with mixed emotions and questions, “Quit my job? How could I forsake the security it provided?”…
