COMING from a family of staunch IFP supporters, Mandy Michael is propping her campaign on the eradication of drugs and empowering women to become active citizens in their communities.
Michael, 49, originally from Empangeni moved to Richard’s Bay in 1986, and has been involved in community activism, civic duties and politics since the dawn of democracy in 1994.
She currently chairs the Brackenham Civic Association after taking a voluntary severance package from her former employer, Pick n Pay, to pursue a full time career in politics.
Michael, a divorced mother of a son, 28, and a daughter, 23, holds two diplomas – one in management and the other in human resources, both of which she obtained from Unisa through the Pick n Pay study programmes.
