ROCK icon David Bowie not only saved broke pal Peter Frampton’s career, he saved his life by carrying him out of a burning plane.
The death-defying moment came during Bowie’s 1987 Glass Spider World Tour when the Lazarus crooner hired on his old, guitar-pickin’ school chum Frampton, who was broke and trying to launch a comeback.
The private plane was ferrying across the airport tarmac when suddenly smoke began pouring into the cabin.
Bowie, who died at 69 of liver cancer in 2016, leaped to his feet, yelling, “Smoke, smoke.”
