NARAWNTAPU NATIONAL PARK, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA
The preferred habitat of the Tasmanian Forester kangaroo, the second-largest marsupial in the world, is dry forest with shrubs, herbs, water and grass. This makes Narawntapu National Park, or ‘Pu Park’ as locals call it - with its varying landscape of inlets, small islands, headlands, wetlands, dunes and lagoons - an ideal environment for these animals. They roam freely in mobs in this ‘Serengeti of Tasmania’. Although many visitors come to see the wombats, there is loads of other wildlife to spot, such as Bennett’s wallabies, pademelons (a marsupial that looks not unlike a miniature ’roo) and Tasmanian devils.
