As part of my job, I spend a lot of time scouring the globe for great places to ride a bike. Sadly, this doesn’t involve a private jet and a series of five-star hotels. It usually means hours spent on Google Street View, laboriously scanning road systems for the telltale wiggles that might reveal a previously undiscovered climb, or clicking my way down tiny lanes to see if they go anywhere interesting.
