ISLAMIC institutions and religious leaders have slammed a video claiming that Muslims have “captured” the food and beverage industry and are using halaal-certification fees to fund terrorism, at the expense of Christians. AN ENERGY expert says more customers are switching to prepaid electricity meters so that they can control their consumption and spend. Professor Sampson Mamphweli, the head of energy for the South African National Energy Department, said the electricity price increase by Nersa was determined on an annual basis using the Multi-Year Price Determination Methodology. “In this process, Eskom applies for the tariffs increase from the national energy regulator. Cosatu warned that “callous” employers who treated their employees like “glorified slaves” and did not adhere to the NMW, would be “called-out”. There has been mixed reaction to the increase.
