NESTLED along the picturesque sea shore on one side of Durban South and the puffing refinery towers on the other, the vibrant community of Wentworth exudes a rich cultural tapestry. It proudly reflects the resilience of its residents for more than five decades.
Throughout its history, this township, initially established as a result of apartheid’s separate development policies, has nurtured freedom fighters, sports people, academics, professionals, and artists who have defied all odds. In commemoration of this heritage, the Wentworth Heritage Festival will take place at Transhaven on Treasure Beach Road from September 22 to 25.
The festival aims to celebrate the diversity of the Wentworth community, while promoting unity, understanding, social cohesion, and appreciation for the shared struggles and triumphs experienced by its residents.
