I THOUGHT it was time to fill you in on stage two of my 2011 CBR1000RR’s upgrade, since you featured the first stage in the mag.
Well, it went even better than hoped; I now have the engine that Honda should have built, with power output up to 193.9bhp @ 12,287rpm at the rear wheel – an increase of around 33bhp from standard. Torque is up to 87.92lb.ft @ 10,169rpm, a gain of 9lb.ft.
Stage one comprised of an Akrapovic exhaust system, Ten Kate Racing cams, special bellmouths and a K&N filter to help breathing, which netted 180bhp. But I wanted to match an S1000RR.
During stage two, the compression ratio was increased from 12.3:1 to 13.1:1, and an adjustment to the inlet valve clearance…
