Every Friday, Alison Trevellion drives to her local food bank and waits patiently in the queue. Not long ago, there were a handful of people standing with her, but the line has now easily doubled.
It's the last place Alison, 56, who lives with her 13-year-old daughter Gracie, expected to find herself, but she is now part of the latest figures from the Food Foundation, which show currently one in five people is suffering from “food insecurity”, the inability to access enough affordable, nutritious food.
