Born in Johnstown, Pa., in 1940, Dr. Dave started bowhunting with his trusty Bear Grizzly recurve when he was 12 years old. It was 1952, and only one year after Pennsylvania held its first archery deer season, a bucks-only season for which 5,542 hunters bought licenses.
