01 MEET THE PHILIPPINE EAGLE
With a wingspan of two metres, the Philippine eagle is one of the world’s largest birds of prey, but also one of the most endangered. There are thought to be less than 1,000 remaining in the wild, its existence threatened by poaching, pollution and deforestation.
This charismatic bird features in Endangered, the result of an epic project by Tim Flach to photograph some of the most threatened species on Earth. Combining stylised, deeply emotional portraits of the animals with images taken in their natural habitat, the book aims directly for the heart, highlighting their vulnerability and all-too-delicate existence.
