So many exciting cars are making their debuts this year – as our New Cars 2026 special report shows (p35) – including plenty that have taken a while to come to fruition, such as the Ferrari Elettrica, Jaguar’s GT and the Renault Twingo.
But one model is notably absent from the list: a non-supercar McLaren. News that McLaren was merging with start-up Forseven after a shaky few years was one of the biggest stories of last year. It’s been nine months since our scoop, in which then new CEO Nick Collins promised we would see official details of the new-era McLarens by the end of 2025, describing “a bigger-bang event”. Now, the silence is becoming deafening.
