The British company has mated design inspired by Aston’s heritage to the most modern technology and performance. Aston says the DBR22 “unashamedly speaks of tradition”, with clear nods to the brand’s DBR1 and DB3S sports cars from the fifties. The coach-built body is made up of a minimal number of carbon-fibre panels for a sculpted, muscular look. As with the firm’s five-door Focus hatchback, this estate model features subtly revised styling, with new bumpers, fresh headlights and a tweaked grille that now features an oversized Blue Oval logo at its centre. There are some concessions to the appeal of an SUV with the car in our pictures though, because the Focus Active Estate adds cladding around the wheelarches and raises the standard car’s ride height by 30mm for a crossover-inspired look. For that, you need to step up to the Discover Pro system, which costs an extra £1,045. Most buyers will find the standard system absolutely fine – and in some ways better. This is because the touchscreen is surrounded by touch-sensitive shortcuts for all the key functions, but there are two physical dials – one for the volume, and another that can be used to zoom in and out on the map screen. KIA is getting ready to crown its electric line-up with a new large SUV, called the EV9, and we’ve spotted the car undergoing development on track. The brand’s production-spec EV9 was previewed by the Concept EV9 prototype at last year’s LA Motor Show, and we can see from these latest spy shots that the road-going car will sport similar sharp and solid surfaces along its flanks. 1st MAZDA IN many areas, the CX-30 ranks among the best crossovers in the class. It offers up fantastic ride and handling, it’s reasonably spacious both for people and cargo, and it has one of the finest interiors for the money. We’d certainly try before you buy, though – even though it’s frugal, the e-Skyactiv X engine won’t be to everyone’s taste, and could even be a deal-breaker. 2nd VW THE T-Roc might have been updated for 2022, but beyond the cosmetic tweaks, the changes are so small that it’s stood still – or taken a step back. MAHINDRA has signed former Formula E champion Lucas Di Grassi for next season, as part of a long-term deal to bring the British-Indian outfit into title contention.
