The Mondiale de l’Automobile, as the organizers like to call it, or the Paris Auto Show, as the world has known it for more than a hundred years, remained true to its reputation as the most-visited auto exposition in the world. This year there were 1,231,416 visitors to the multiple halls at the Parc d’Exposition in Paris, among whom were more than 12,000 journalists from 133 countries. All of this is highly positive, as was the fact that there were at least a hundred world premieres, of which the most important (to the French) were the Renault Clio IV and (to the world) the VW Golf VII. These two compact family cars are the “bread and butter” products of their respective companies and are vitally important to their future fortunes.…
