THE BAIL appearance of the man accused of the rape and murder of 11-year-old Relebogile Segami was postponed until September 22 for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to decide on whether to transfer the case to the Northern Cape High Court or not. Itumeleng Machabe, 24, appeared before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was supposed to apply for bail after the matter was postponed on July 8. THE FORMER owner of the now-defunct Shadows Pub and Grill, Johannes "Hansie" Galloway, has been found guilty of two charges of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl during 2014 and 2015. Judgment was handed down in the Kimberley Sexual Offences Court this week. Galloway had pleaded not guilty to the charges. The incidents took place in Douglas where Galloway violated the child by touching her private parts without her consent and also made her touch his genitals. The court also found him guilty of threatening the girl not to tell anyone, where he offered her R10 and a lollipop in exchange for her silence following the first incident that occurred in October 2014. SOUTH Africa is forging ahead with a plan to create a new state-owned power company by converting three coal-fired plants into gas-burning generators to ease the country's energy crisis. State power utility Eskom generates most of South Africa's electricity and has subjected the country to rolling blackouts since 2008 because its old and poorly maintained facilities can't keep pace with demand. The proposed new company, dubbed Generation 2, will take over the three plants that are set for decommissioning, according to Energy, Minerals and Resource Minister Gwede Mantashe. A 43-YEAR-old Kimberley man was gunned down in front of his young children at his house in Armstrong Street in Verwoerd Park yesterday morning. According to reports, the man was transporting four children to school when he was fatally shot. Three of the minors are believed to be the children of the deceased while one is his neighbour’s child. A neighbour said she rushed outside when she heard gunshots yesterday morning. “The four children were inside the vehicle that the deceased was driving.
