BROTHERS Dylan and Ned Govender, convicted of assault and attempted murder during the July 2021 unrest, have been given one more month before their sentencing.
The sentencing was expected to be passed in the Durban High Court last week but the matter was adjourned due to outstanding pre-sentencing reports.
In May, Dylan, 29, a graphic designer, and Ned, 30, a mechanical engineer, were acquitted of killing 19-year-old Mondli Majola. They were however found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm.
It is alleged that Majola, from the Zwelisha township near Phoenix, was walking along Desertpalm Gardens in Palmview, Phoenix, to Cornubia when a group of men opened fire.
Majola was allegedly attacked when he tripped and fell. He was also shot in the head and stabbed in the thigh.
