In a wide-ranging study of more than 10,000 test subjects, scientists found taking extra vitamin D reduced infections like pneumonia and bronchitis by a staggering 12 percent. There are plenty of triggers for respiratory tract infections, including air pollution, residing in a damp living environment, overcrowding and secondhand smoke.
