Shakespearean houses, salubrious honey-coloured towns, wonky half-timbered cottages, Cotswold views – Warwick is lovely country to cycle in, with gentle hills and landscapes. Once off the busy A roads it’s all quiet lanes, with options for all riders. Stratford’s close at hand, but less-touristy Warwick is our base, with an awesome castle, big-town facilities in a small, friendly place, and easy rail access.

A tower of strength
A thoroughly delightful day of mild climbs and downhills on back lanes, with quaint villages, handsome small towns, and fine vale views everywhere. How about coffee in Ilmington, and a picnic at Dover’s Hill? Followed by selfies at the remarkable Broadway Tower, cake in Moreton, then easy lanes and roads home.
