Waving the passengers off, I looked around the deserted cruise ship.
Now what? I thought.
It was March 2020, and I’d flown to Montego Bay, Jamaica, just two weeks earlier, to work as cruiseship entertainer.
I was excited about having two months in the Caribbean, five in the Med.
Then the pandemic hit.
The passengers disembarked, leaving 800 staff rattling around.
‘It’s just for a few weeks,’ the captain said.
So, with little to do, I spent my days sunbathing.
One afternoon, I saw a handsome crew member in the pool.
‘I’m Maksim,’ he grinned, sauntering over.
‘Bethany,’ I smiled, my tummy doing somersaults.
