TO SEE: After the rainfalls from May to July, the arid region is transformed into a magical land covered with wild flowers such as the yellow leucospermum reflexum, the snow protea (protea cryophylla), blue Lachanaea filamentosa, yellow sparaxis, pink Cyanella alba, gousblomme (commonly known as the African daisy), vygies, nemesias, lachenalias and babiana. For this miraculous spectacle, Namaqua flower shows and flower camps often hosted on farms, are popular, so accommodation should be booked well before the season starts. The wild flowers, depending on the winter rains and the spring temperatures, appear from late August to mid-September, ushering in spring.
