KNOWN as the King of the Cowboys, ROY ROGERS starred in more than 100 films and numerous radio and TV episodes of the 1950s series The Roy Rogers Show, featuring wife DALE EVANS, who wrote their signature sign-off song, Happy Trails. But Roy’s trusty palomino, Trigger, was a bigger star than his wife — performing tricks at schools, orphanages and children’s hospitals. When Trigger died in 1965, Roy refused to “put him in the ground” and had his golden steed stuffed. Now Trigger is on display at a New Mexico ranch owned by RFD-TV and Roy, who died in 1998, is buried in Apple Valley, Calif.…
