THE most dangerous roads in Britain have been named in a revealing new study. The A537 between Macclesfield in Cheshire and Buxton, Derbyshire, was rated as the most dangerous in the country, scoring highest in the “persistently higher risk” category that’s assigned to roads where “serious crashes are little improved or worsening” over six years.
The A254 between Ramsgate and Margate, Kent, followed the A537, and the A259 from Glyne Gap to Ore, Hastings, E Sussex, was identified as the third riskiest road. Sections of the A588 and A6 in Lancashire were also judged to be persistently higher-risk, as were portions of the A32 in Hampshire, the A3055 on the Isle of Wight, the A21 in East Sussex, the A18 in Lincolnshire and Berkshire’s A4.
