Land artist inspired by nature
An artist in West Yorkshire, England, creates outdoor masterpieces using the natural objects he finds such as stones, sticks, leaves and berries. Winston Plowes, 58, says his “land art” patterns can take up to nine hours to complete, then they naturally fade back into the beaches, fields or forests where they’ve been created. Plowes says, “Working on a beach, it’s like having a giant Etch A Sketch – twice a day the whole thing is going to be wiped clean”. He keeps a record of his artworks by photographing them, and encourages everyone to have a go. “Art is for everybody,” he says.
