The ripples of the policy changes being made by U.S. President Donald Trump have travelled across the Atlantic, hitting the island of Anglesey, lying off the northwest coast of Wales. It was here that a member of the world’s rarest species of sea turtle — Kemp’s ridley (Lepidochelys kempii) — was found on a beach during 2023, some 6,440 km (4,000 mi) from home. Luckily for the turtle, who has been christened Rhossi, it was a good spot to come ashore, as she was quickly found and taken to the nearby Anglesey Sea Zoo, where she has been nursed back to health.
