The idea of Honda developing a new model in an attempt to compete with the popularity of Royal Enfield would've been laughable just a decade ago, but the Japanese firm are set to bring their 348cc air-cooled GB350S retro to the UK for 2025. And it is set to cost just £3949. The GB350 name already exists in other Honda markets, such as Australia, with the same engine found in a wider CB350 model family in countries including India. When it arrives in Britain, it will go toe-to-toe with Enfield's J-series 350 single family, which currently comprises the Bullet, HNTR, Classic, and Meteor. Aprilia have taken their already capable Tuareg 660 adventure bike and turned it up to 11, lifting the lid on a hardcore Factory version inspired by the works racer that dominated this year's Africa Eco Race with factory rider, Jacopo Cerutti. Ahead of the launch of their Classic 650 twin (see right) Royal Enfield lifted the lid on a new Bear 650 scrambler, with prices starting from a wallet-friendly £6749. With Enfield being the kings of platform sharing, it features the same air/oil-cooled 648cc parallel twin engine as the rest of their 650 parallel twin range, with 47.6bhp on tap at 7150rpm and 41.7lb.ft of torque also arriving at 5150rpm. Torque is increased over existing twins thanks to the inclusion of a two-into one exhaust system, rather than the usual dual exit design. The compact silencer is also designed to reduce weight, coming in at an overall 216kg with 90% of its 13.7-litre fuel tank. KTM don't like to take things easy and despite the Super Duke GT being their relaxed sports-touring option, 2025 sees it gain not only new tech but also a sportier focus with enhanced performance and a sharper chassis. The GT now boasts the updated 1350cc version of the LC8 V-twin. It's identical in spec to the motor that powers the 2024 1390 Super Duke R EVO, which should mean a claimed 187.7bhp with 107ft.lb of torque, although KTM are yet to officially confirm the GT's performance stats. Shortly after taking the covers off their new, 890cc V2 engine, Ducati have released the first two bikes that it will be powering: the 2025 Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 models. Although the new motor offers less power, capacity and torque than the previous generation V2, the big news is a huge weight reduction, with the Panigale V2 S coming in 17kg lighter and the Streetfighter V2 S 18kg lighter than the outgoing models – alongside a more road biased approach to their characteristics. With the Panigale, there's also a slightly less aggressive riding triangle, yet even so, Ducati claim it's only a couple of tenths slower around a racetrack, which should still make it a weapon for trackdays and supersport racing. ‘Sales rising by 40% pa’ Kove are one of motorcycling's fastest growing brands. Established in 2017, the Chinese manufacturer had already exceeded 20,000 units sold by 2021, with sales growing by an average of 40% per year, making Kove China's fourth biggest producer of bikes over 400cc. Unlike many of its rival Chinese brands, Kove hasn't as yet ventured into the small capacity scooter and commuter markets, preferring to concentrate on building a reputation grounded in exciting, sporting machines. DAY ONE We start off in the city of Copenhagen onto the E20 motorway then turn off and keep to the coast to Vallø Castle. From there, we follow the coast, but head across country towards the town of Næstved for lunch. Then we go back into the countryside and dash across Denmark to complete the loop back to Copenhagen. 1500 miles ON TEST 4SR Monster Evo gloves £65 Summer gloves are great, thanks to just how comfortable, light and practical they are for those shorter rides. The Monster Evo offerings from 4SR have been spot on for this, packing a good mixture of security, breathability and comfort. WELCOME Wings, they're a thing now, right? Everywhere you look sportsbikes are being festooned with aerodynamics – even small, low-power machines, like Yamaha's R3, are being fitted with aerofoils, canards, scoops and winglets. While I appreciate their place in the engineering class that is MotoGP I don't care much for them on road bikes – and I have to admit that the latest ‘carbon moustache’ on the new M1000RR (page 4) is a bit too much for my tastes. BMW's S1000R and M1000R head into 2025 carrying a host of revisions. The cheaper S-badged model takes the lion's share, with the naked now packing 168bhp (up from 162bhp). To extract the extra ponies from the 999cc DOHC inline-four, the German marque's engineers have adjusted the geometry of the intake ports and tweaked the fuel mapping. Torque remains the same at 84lb.ft, but a shorter second gear and final drive ratio should give it more punch. Both ‘Drag Torque Control’ (MSR) and ‘Engine Brake’ control now feature as standard on the S1000R. Controlled electronically, MSR stops the rear wheel slipping due to abrupt throttle closure or downshifting. Yamaha have given their premier maxi scooter a tickle for 2025, unveiling a refreshed TMAX Tech Max which will be in dealerships from March priced from £14,300. As you'd expect, the new TMAX is all about convenience and practicality, featuring a plethora of useful trinkets including keyless operation (including underseat access), a 110mm electronically adjustable screen, backlit switches, adjustable backrest, heated grips and a heated seat. ‘Cornering ABS and a stack of refinements’ The biggest addition, however, comes in the form of cornering ABS that can meter available braking force based on lean angle thanks to an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). KTM are adding to their 990 Duke family with a more focused R, ready to go up against the sportiest of mid-sized super-nakeds. Building on the £12,999 990 Duke, which arrived at the beginning of 2024, the R adds more power and features a new colourscheme inspired by the 990 Super Duke R V-twin from 2011-13. The 947cc parallel-twin engine has been tweaked to extract an additional 6.9bhp courtesy of new mapping. The OW01 entered the world championship during one of its most competitive times. Ducati and Honda were leading the way with the 851 and RC30, the Kawasaki ZXR750 was coming of age by the end of 1991, and Bimota were still winning races with the YB4 (which was powered by an FZ750 engine) in 1989. It doesn't take a genius to work out that the CBR600RR is a focused, rider-centric machine. And yet, over the last 5000 miles, it has proven to be a frugal filtering dream – demolishing big rides and commutes while achieving more than 50mpg when you aren't pushing. There were plenty of reasons for Fabio Quartararo to have endured a torrid time in Malaysia. A new Yamaha engine with more top end expired after a lap and a half on Friday morning, then couldn't be mended. Just days after the launch of their Bear 650 scrambler, Royal Enfield have pulled the covers off a new Classic 650 upright – again powered by the firm's tried and tested air/ oil-cooled A2 licence friendly parallel twin. WHAT'S NEW IN TECH? Only a few months ago, Ducati released news that their Superquadro twin-cylinder run would be coming to an end; a configuration that has been around in one variation or another for over 30 years. It powered the likes of the 748, 749, 848, 899, 959 and the current Panigale V2, but it's not the end of the road for the V-twin - more the beginning of a new one.
