The Via Alpina is a network of five long-distance hiking trails that run from Slovenia to Monaco all along the Alps, via Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy and France.
The trail network covers about 5 000 km in total, broken into 342 stages. It’s not something that can be attempted in one go, but from March until late September, the Via Alpina is full of people who come to enjoy their annual quota of breathtaking landscapes. Many hikers return again and again to complete more of the stages.
