Newly restored De Mond Villa has added to the accommodations at De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Overberg, along the Whale Route.
It has five en suite rooms and overlooks the Ramsar designated vlei, which means it is stocked chock-full of bird life, so don’t forget to pack your binos. Keep a keen eye out, too, for wild bush pigs, otters, rock dassies and eland. You may even see leopard.
It also means that splendid views are standard. There is a boma and a swimming pool, and it will be a designated property on the De Hoop Slackpacking Trail, now being devised.
Activities at De Hoop include interpretive marine walks, hiking and mountain-biking trails, eco boat cruises on the vlei, nature drives, tennis or boules, and vulture hikes and viewings.…
