How do you feel about the fact a Dutchman – director Paul Verhoeven – interpreted your view of 1980s America?
Coming from Amsterdam, which has been a global crossroads since the 18th century, the mix of culture, race, ethnicity and gender politics were all very forward in Paul’s mind. There is a scene in RoboCop, in the police locker room, where women are changing with men and there is this genderless quality which is very liberal Dutch.
