John Campbell, master distiller at Laphroaig, the southernmost distillery on the Isle of Islay, surprises us again, breaking traditional malt whisky rules without altering the pure essence and unique style of the peated whiskies. He has used a special selection of American and European casks chosen for their unique character during maturation, when nuances of Laphroaig 10, Quarter Cask, PX Cask and Triple Wood emerge. It is an amalgam of toasty aromas, tropical fruit, coconut and honey, embraced by an intense and iodized wave of fresh, pungent 30ppm peat.
