1kg chicken pieces

2 tomatoes
4 chillies, more or less depending on taste
6-10 cloves fresh garlic, depending on taste
a few curry leaves
2 tsp tamarind paste in 2 cups of water.
one onion, finely chopped
2 tsp each of freshly ground mustard seeds, jeera seeds, soomph seeds and black peppercorns
4 dried chillies
1 level tsp turmeric
¼ cup pink/red lentils, optional
2 tsp Marandhu Sellu (birth masala)
Liquidise the tomatoes, chillies, garlic, curry leaves and tamarind paste in 2 cups of water.
Fry the onion, ground mustard seeds, jeera seeds, soomph seeds, black peppercorns and dried chillies.
Add the turmeric in a little oil. Once fried, add the chicken pieces and braise with the spices until the oil surfaces.
