While Volkswagen may have created the original Hot Hatch in its Mk1 Golf GTI, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Wolfsburg when it comes to retaining top honours in the fast hatchback sector. When our Head of Content, Jules Truss, mentioned the magazine’s latest project car was to be based on a Caddy 2K I wasn’t exactly enamoured at first - especially when he said it was to be built on a sensible budget, too. However, when the base vehicle arrived and proved to be extremely tidy, it soon got our creative juices flowing. The German tuning supremos at HG Motorsport recently released these two new diesel turbo outlets as part of its HF Series, which effectively eliminate the silencer found in the OE item. Designed to fit the OEM connection in a only improve powerplug-and-play fashion, HG claim these high-performance outlets will not but also response due to an optimal and even flow pattern of air as it reaches the intercooler. HG used state-of-the art flow simulations to calculate this optimum flow and develop the products. There are two new outlets available, which are both produced at €119.00. The first is designed to fit the higher power MQB 2.0TDI (found in Mk7 Golf GTDs and Audi A3 8v), whereas the second is intended for the 1.6-2.0 TDI (EA189 and EA288) lower engines. Our…

Over the coming issues we’ll be running through some changes in performance and styling to my new A7, then hopefully some upgrades to ICE and connectivity. For regular readers, with good memories, the first mod won’t need much introduction. My old A7 (the one you crashed? - Ed) sported a very tasty set of 20” Rotiform RSEs. That was actually the second PVW car they had been on, too (Ell’s old Q5 also sported them for a while). So, technically, that’s a hat-trick of PVW motors! After being inspected for any damage, the Rotiforms were then refurbished in genuine Ferrari Bronze Titanium for a bit of a glow up.
