Take one strip of fabric and create a crease by folding one short edge inwards to meet the long edge of the strip, and gently press (Fig A). Unfold and check that the crease is facing the correct direction (Fig B), and cut along the crease using a quilt ruler and rotary cutter (Fig C). Discard the cut triangle. Mark the ¼in seam allowance in both corners of each strip. To piece, place two strips right sides together and match up the points of the marked seam allowances along the diagonal edges. Use two pins going straight through each corner dot. Secure the two pieces together using horizontal pins and remove the end pins (Fig D). I’ll admit, I’ve never been a fan of Valentine’s Day. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not an unromantic Scrooge.
