To collect data for the scientists, a visiting nurse checked fit patients’ pressure and noted the ambient temperature of their homes. Among those in the warmest residences, their average pressure was significantly lower than folks who kept their homes chilly. “We would suggest clinicians take indoor temperature into consideration, as it could affect a diagnosis if someone has borderline hypertension,” says study co-author Hongde Zhao, “and people with cooler homes may also need higher doses of medications.” While the researchers couldn’t pinpoint the perfect indoor temperature, they suggest 70 degrees as a minimum.…
