Josh’s ‘Cuda started as a DR10 kit and he built it from the ground up to be completely custom. Everything on the body is painted—all the chrome bumpers, window trim, hood lettering, checkered flag, stripes, and red chrome side lettering are all done in paint. The red color on top is a custom color he blended himself that involved four separate paint colors. The finish has been topped off with a beautiful pearl flake over the reds, whites, and grays. Like much of the RC world Wes was bitten by the New Bright Bronco bug. He knew he wasn’t going to keep the stock yellow look, and scrolling around the internet turned up an artist’s rendering of what he envisioned a 2021 International Scout would look like. Wes figured it was the perfect project, especially with the history of the Bronco and Scout. Back in the ‘60s Ford took a lot of styling cues from the Scout to make their Bronco—Wes figured it would be appropriate for the Scout to do the same decades later. The Scout body does not have any major panels changed, but most of them have small tweaks made from the original form. Aaron has built a couple of metal-body crawlers using Axial platforms, but for his latest build he wanted to try out something different so he spec’d out a Gatekeeper chassis from Team Associated. He is running the stock shocks and axles, which do a fine job of putting power to the trail from Castle Creations’ and 14-series sensored motor and Mamba Micro ESC, powered by a Tattu 1300mAh 3S Lipo. Grip comes from Pit Bull Rock Beast 1.9s on Vision RC custom aluminum wheels. Most of the body is aluminum too—using custom panels made by Dave Keith.
