On 24 February, Ukraine marked four years since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of the country. Ceremonies took place around Ukraine, and in Kyiv, the capital, to commemorate the anniversary. Leaders from countries, including the UK, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, joined the Kyiv ceremony to support Ukraine.
Since February 2022, the war has forced 3.7 million Ukrainians to leave their homes. Attacks have damaged more than 2.5 million homes and seriously damaged power plants across the country, leaving people without reliable heating and electricity. Nearly six million Ukrainians have fled the country to find safety.
It has been estimated that Russian forces have suffered 1.2 million casualties since February 2022, including 325,000 deaths. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky recently said 55,000 Ukrainians had died during the four-year war.
