From 19 to 22 August, the Democratic National Convention (DNC) took place in Chicago, US.
What is the DNC?
The DNC is a big event that takes place every four years in the lead-up to the US presidential election (when US voters choose their country’s leader). A presidential election will take place on 5 November and the current vice (deputy) president, Kamala Harris, will campaign to become president. Tim Walz, a politician and former teacher, will campaign to become the next vice president. The US’s other main party, the Republicans (see panel), held their own convention (meeting) earlier this year.
