Our brave boy wanted to ride 300km to the beach

My son, Connor, 11, looked up at me with hopeful eyes. “Please, Mum,” he begged me.
“Hmm, I’m not sure,”
I hesitated.
It was August 2023, and Connor’s heart was set on doing a 300km bike ride from our farm in Watsons Creek, NSW, to the coast to raise money for cancer research.
Connor had lost one grandfather to oesophageal cancer, and recently his other pop had been diagnosed with tongue cancer and his aunty with breast cancer.
He’d read the story of Lorin Nicholson who, at 16, rode 272km from Tamworth to Port Macquarie, NSW.
