John Tipping has been named Young Gamekeeper of the Year by the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT). John, 10, was presented with his award by Helen Benson, the trust’s chief executive, at a recent ceremony at Whatton House, Leicestershire, John’s home county.
The award was devised by Lady Scott, a GWT trustee, who wished to recognise the families of gamekeepers who give support to shoots and estates. John helps his father, a gamekeeper of over 30 years’ standing, with hatching and looking after the pheasants, as well as being described as “second in charge on shoot days”.
