Taking place before words and phrases like “social distancing”, “self-isolation” and “lockdown” became a part of our daily lexicon, this year’s FrightFest Glasgow delivered plenty of enjoyable horror before the really scary stuff hit.
The festival opened with Synchronic
by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, whose Resolution, Spring and The Endless have established them as two of the most fascinating filmmakers working in SF and horror. Though small, idiosyncratic and resolutely handcrafted, it’s a step towards the mainstream, boasting Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan as New Orleans paramedics who encounter a series of horrific deaths linked to a new designer drug.
