Mexican black kingsnakes have become extremely sought-after over the course of recent years. I think this is largely due to social media, as these snakes often feature on popular YouTube channels, which has introduced them to the large number of followers who watch these videos.
Natural history
The Mexican black kingsnake is a member of the colubrid family, which occurs in the Sonoran Desert, in the northwestern part of the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, ranging across the border into a small area of Arizona in U.S.. They inhabit deserts and dry scrubland, with adults attaining a typical length of 1-1.2m (3.3-4ft), although exceptionally, they can attain 1.5m (5ft) overall.
