The pensioner and well-known local florist from Crest Road in Watsonia was found with his throat slit. Govender, who was single with no children, is believed to have been attacked by his boarder. Reagan Lionel Moodley, 33, was taken in for questioning by members of the Tongaat Saps detective branch that same evening and charged with murder. Moodley was a boarder at Govender’s home for the past year. He appeared in the Verulam Magistrate Court last Friday and remanded into police custody. He was killed while protecting his parents during a robbery at their home in Gledhow, KwaDukuza, on Friday morning. Shunmugam, 41, an operator at the Gledhow Sugar Mill Company, sustained stab wounds to his neck, chest and arms. The robbers fled with two cellphones. After they fled, Shunmugam, made his way to his neighbour’s home and called out for help. He died minutes later in his neighbour’s driveway. THE debate about mandatory vaccines has reached fever pitch as efforts to contain Covid-19 accelerate. Compelling scientific, ethical and legal arguments have been advanced around whether people should be forced to be vaccinated. Some countries have introduced mandates which require people to produce proof of vaccination to access certain public places. The debates are based on a realistic fear about the continuing emergence of new variants against the backdrop of large numbers of unvaccinated people – in high-income countries as well as in low-and-middle-income countries. The bill, among other things, sought to amend the Constitution to allow the state to take land and whatever is on it without having to pay a cent. THE offshore fishing has been extremely friendly to all facets along the coast. The far north has seen the most action but the entire coast is worth launching at. The far north around Cape Vidal and Sodwana has seen a big influx of boats. This is for good reason as the fishing has been very very good.
