WITH A NEW GSX-R1000 widely touted as a concept bike by Suzuki last autumn, it’s taken a year to get more details of Hamamatsu’s plan to fight back in the litre sportsbike class. But, finally, we’re a bit wiser about the new GSX-R. Suzuki sources say there will definitely be two models – a GSX-R1000 and a GSX-R1000R, with the base bike coming in at around £12,500 and the premium R model – with added Showa BFF forks and uprated Showa rear, plus Brembo monoblock calipers – competitively priced around £14,000, and undercutting BMW, Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda rivals.
