Among the locals in 1950s Plainfield, Wis., Ed Gein was known as a quiet loner. But unbeknownst to locals, he was a murderer and grave robber who crafted items from human skin. His farmhouse of horrors was uncovered in 1957 after police found the remains of local shop owners Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan, both of whom he admitted to shooting. His crimes are dramatized in Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
