ON THE WATER
In the southwest of Sardinia you’ll find Porto Botte, tucked away in a nature reserve with shallow water close to shore, a soft, sandy seabed and foiling depth water 200 metres out to sea.
There’s flat-water close to the beach with small chop further out and, as the bay isn’t tidal, you can ride at any time of the day.
Porto Botte catches the infamous ‘Mistral’ and ‘Sirocco’ trade winds, both of which are bolstered by a dependable thermic effect in the summer. The Mistral hits Porto Botte cross-on from the left and is the most consistent as it’s funnelled between St Antioco Island and Sardinia, which increases its strength.
