That’s certainly the case with this room by Inset Kitchens, where a custom build has resulted in a gold-class kitchen that’s commensurate with the rest of this beautiful home. Prior to its renovation, this kitchen was a basic white builder’s kitchen that was tired and dysfunctional. The owners wanted high-quality cabinetry that would complement their new extension and the grand scale of their property — and so the team from Inset Kitchens began work, creating a kitchen that was completely custom built in the Inset Kitchens factory. The homeowners of this property had been living with a narrow, galley-style kitchen for four years and wanted to update it. It didn’t utilise the space well and had limited storage and no pantry. The key objectives were to increase cupboard and drawer space, install a canopy to conceal the rangehood, and they favoured a more traditional style for the space. They were open to suggestions from the designers, providing whatever was done would increase utility and make it a more functional and open space to live in. There were a few challenges given the narrow profile of the kitchen, as well as a few skylights in the ceiling. This beautifully modern farmhouse kitchen was an extra-special project for the homeowners. They were married at the location 19 years ago and eventually bought the property once it was put on the market. To do it justice, they had a very particular vision for it, entrusting the process to SpaceCraft Joinery. This beautifully polished kitchen underwent a major transformation from previously dated and dark to bright and classic. Prior to the renovation, the floor plan was smaller due to a laundry that shared the space with the kitchen. It was covered in timber veneer cabinetry that clashed with the flooring, and dark benchtops were making the space feel closed in. The homeowners wanted something more spacious both for storage and entertaining. It also needed to be brighter and predominantly white, with dark accents for contrast, complete with a wine fridge.
