WHEN RECENTLY APPOINTED Schiaparelli design director Bertrand Guyon first delved into the archives of the 88-year-old Paris house, what struck him most wasn’t the bevy of Surrealist references and chic yet wildly imaginative designs for which its founder, the legendary Elsa Schiaparelli, was so renowned. Every evening, designer Andrew Gn used to retire from his grand Paul Poiret–inspired atelier in Paris’s Marais district to his equally decadent 18thcentury flat on the city’s Right Bank.
