THERE’S NO POLITE way to say this, so let’s be brutally honest: the previous generation Audi rs3 sportback was pretty dire. it sounded interesting, thanks to its 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine, and it had strong performance, but there was no finesse and the chassis was painfully inert. it was as though all the joy had been wrung out of the Rs3 to leave something effective but awfully disappointing. The on-paper promise was sky-high, which made the uninspiring reality all the more crushing. surely this new car, which positively pulsates with potential, can’t get it so wrong all over again?
