This image is the first of nine that show the salt evaporation fields of Shark Bay, Western Australia. The reason the fields are blue is they flood the seawater onto the land, and then the water evaporates, leaving the purest salt in the world!
A friend and I made the decision to hire a plane for the day. It was a pricey excursion, but fully worth it, as the expertise of the pilot and his knowledge of the area were vital.
