Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he expects a fearless performance from his charges in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco given the experience they’ve gained in recent matches. THE 2022/23 annual budget at Sol Plaatje Municipality has not received the thumbs up from opposition parties, due to “a lack of public consultation”. Speaker Nomazizi Maputle, during a council meeting this week, advised that the public participation meetings were poorly attended. The chief financial officer and acting municipal manager, Lydia Thekisho, said 18 out of a total of 33 wards had completed the public participation process on the budget and proposed electricity tariffs. THE DEFENCE for Aldean Wilkinson, 30, who was charged with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Danielle van der Linde, 29, believes that the community has been swept up in a wave of “mass hysteria”, where they were led to believe that she was murdered in the presence of the couple’s nine-year-old son. KIMBERLEY Girls' High Grade 8 pupil Chaylin Myburgh, 14, believes that her research on solar energy can provide a solution to enable consumers to continue with household activities during load shedding. Chaylin was the only pupil from the Northern Cape who was selected to attend the Broadcom Masters International Programme in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America. She was part of a group of seven of the country’s most innovative young scientists that attended the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and the Broadcom Masters International Programme from May 7 to 13. Chaylin was chosen to present her project on solar water heaters that she manufactured mostly from recycled materials to other finalists after entering her project at the Eskom expo. I happen to know it was a joke, because his mother was sitting in the kitchen with us at the time and she laughed long and hard. CEMETERY workers in Ritchie said that they were treated like the “stepchildren” of Sol Plaatje Municipality as they were not supplied with the basic tools of the trade.
