Marling’s interest in psychoanalysis got her obsessed with Lou Andreas-Salomé, the first female psychoanalyst, who became a huge influence on the Austrian poet, Rilke. MAY 30  It’s reported that Nirvana have been served with a lawsuit by Nirvana, the London baroque-pop group who had a Top 40 UK hit in 1968 with Rainbow Chaser, over naming rights. The latter outfit’s Patrick Campbell-Lyons says the Seattle Nirvana have “obliterated” his band. The judge rules that, after a financial settlement, both outfits can carry on as billed. “I suppose we weren’t going to play grunge and they were not going to start suddenly playing baroque pop music,” muses Campbell-Lyons later. • The first of what promises to be a slew of 2020 releases from Neil Young – including Archives 2 (purported to cover 1972-82), 1990 live film Rust Bucket and Young Shakespeare, a ’71 live album/film – Homegrown was a full studio LP, finished right up to the sleeve that Neil decided (not for the last time) to ditch. It was recorded in 1974-75 – a very busy and creative period for Young that included the release of parts two and three of the so-called Ditch Trilogy, On The Beach and Tonight’s The Night, a world tour with CSNY and a reunion with Crazy Horse to record Zuma.
